Description

Mediterranean salmon marinades blend zesty herbs with citrus-kissed olive oil, creating a mouthwatering dish that sings with Greek-inspired flavors. Quick and simple prep lets you elevate weeknight dinners with restaurant-worthy elegance, delivering a meal that delights senses and satisfies hunger.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Protein:

  • 2 pounds (907 grams) salmon fillet

Liquid Ingredients:

  • 1/4 cup (60 milliliters) olive oil
  • 1/3 cup (80 milliliters) soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons (45 milliliters) lemon juice

Flavor Enhancers:

  • 1 tablespoon mild honey
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 4 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley
  • 1 teaspoon finely grated lemon zest
  • salt (to taste)
  • pepper (to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the salmon by gently patting each fillet dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture. Use tweezers to carefully extract any pin bones, ensuring a smooth dining experience.
  2. Create the marinade by whisking together olive oil, soy sauce, lemon juice, honey, brown sugar, chopped parsley, minced garlic, and lemon zest in a medium container until the sugars completely dissolve.
  3. Place salmon fillets in a large zip-top bag, carefully pour the marinade over the fish, and remove excess air before sealing. Refrigerate for 30-60 minutes, allowing the flavors to penetrate the fish deeply.
  4. Remove salmon from the marinade and discard the remaining liquid. For grilling, heat the grill to 400-450F and lightly oil the grates. Alternatively, for oven cooking, preheat to 375F.
  5. Grill the salmon skin-side down for 10-12 minutes per inch of thickness, or bake in an oiled dish for 15-22 minutes until the fish becomes opaque and flakes easily.
  6. Allow the salmon to rest for 3-5 minutes after cooking, which helps redistribute the juices and ensures maximum tenderness. Plate and serve with your preferred accompaniments.

Notes

  • Optimize moisture control by thoroughly patting salmon dry, which enhances marinade absorption and prevents soggy texture.
  • Remove pin bones carefully using tweezers to ensure a smooth, enjoyable dining experience without unexpected crunchy interruptions.
  • Customize marinade sweetness by adjusting honey and brown sugar levels to match personal dietary preferences or reduce overall sugar content.
